Some of our favourite family-friendly restaurants!
PEMBERTON
For a small town, we have a lot of great food!
Big Sky - Great food with an AMAZING view over the golf course, small sandbox for kids, great kids menu. Don't run on the golf course please!
Mile One - Counter-service fancy burger and beer spot popular with locals, right off the highway. Kid friendly options like hot dogs and mac'n'cheese (ask for a half order).
Grimm's - Diner experience with an overhead train and interior ice-cream shop. Simple, inexpensive fare.
Fish and Rice - Sushi! No play space. No special kids' menu. Ask for a paper crane :)
Pony - restaurant with great food (pizza, noodles, mussels); kid menu available (not necessarily the usual standard fare). No play space.
Beer Farmers - local brewery down Pemberton Meadows (a little drive). Gorgeous views. Fun outdoor running for the kids on a local farm; pigs etc available for casual viewing. Sometimes there's a food truck.
North Arm Farm - It's a farm! Feed and visit chickens, pigs, sheep. Buy veggies. Go on a wagon to pick a pumpkin and play in a hay house (seasonal). Roast marshmallows (seasonal). Ice cream (seasonal). Wooden hut playhouse structure available all year round. Food available with limited, mainly outdoor seating.
Blackbird Bakery - coffee, pastries, bread, sandwiches, savoury pies. Outdoor seating only on picnic tables. Nearby park with big trees and lots of grass. Right on the train tracks (it's the old train station). Trains currently not running (2022).
Mt. Currie Coffee Co - Cafe with grilled sandwiches, coffee, treats. Indoor and outdoor tables. No kids menu or play space, but right next to the outdoor water park. Ice cream (seasonal).
WHISTLER: Creekside
Creekbread - fancy pizza spot with non-standard pizzas. Amazing building. No kids menu or play space but still a viable kid option. Great chalk board by the bathrooms if you're feeling arty!
Dusty's bar - right at the base of the ski lift. Standard kids menu, lots of tv's. Room to run on the plaza at the bottom of the lift. Fun shops and ice cream stores to browse nearby. Free parking for the whole area.
WHISTLER: Village
Dairy Queen (right by the play park) for a quick hot dog or ice cream.
McDonalds in Whistler village north has a drive-through for emergency hangries
Brewhouse Pub and Restaurant - classic kids menu. Reasonable prices and food. Spacious seating, indoors and out. Close to Olympic Plaza for a run-around. Pizza, burgers, fish+chips, beer, more...
There are tonnes of food options in Whistler, many with kid menus, none with playgrounds per se. More advice on Whistler Insider
WHISTLER: north of the village
Samurai Sushi - 'fast food' no frills great sushi spot with limited indoor and outdoor seating, located outside the village at Nesters. Kid special available. Room to stretch little legs just on the pavement around the grocery store (mine like to race the mini shopping carts). Bathroom with change table.
La Cantina - 'fast food' no frills great Mexican spot with indoor and limited outdoor seating, located outside the village at Nesters. Kids friendly simple cheese quesadillas available. Room to stretch little legs just on the pavement around the grocery store (mine like to race the mini shopping carts). Bathroom with change table.
Alpine Cafe - small eatery with great food nestled in a small community north of Whistler. A local favourite. No kid menu per se but they do great grilled cheese and banana bread. Limited indoor and outdoor seating. No play space, but they are next to the valley trail with a short walk to Meadow Park community pool.
Meadow Park - the small canteen in the ice rink has surprisingly good muffins, grilled cheese, hot dogs, fries, etc, run by a lovely couple. Pair with a day of swimming and skating!
SQUAMISH
Locavore bar/grill/cafe with outdoor and indoor seating, right next to a small, fenced outdoor playground and second-hand clothes shop / toy shop. Kids can play while you eat. Behind Canadian Tire.
Watershed Grill - small spot with good food, right on the dyke for kids to run off some steam and see some eagles. Don't fall in the river!
Crabapple Cafe - nice small eatery. No kid's menu per se, but friendly options nonetheless. And if you follow the small trail out of the back parking lot, through the woods, you'll find a great community playground.
Fergie's Cafe - great food in a lovely outdoor space for running around, in Paradise Valley (bit of a drive).
Fast food alley: the strip between London Drugs and Canadian Tire features a Samurai Sushi, Freshli (for smoothies), Freshslice Pizza, and a Boston Pizza. Convenient.
WhiteSpot (say no more)
McDonalds (has a play space thingy)
